A fire broke out at a flat, resulting in the death of a 68-year-old man. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the fire and arrived to find black smoke coming from a third-floor unit. Firefighters found an unconscious man in the living room and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation before taking him to hospital.

A neighbouring resident, 94 years old, escaped the fire barefoot with a walking stick and was later carried downstairs by a firefighter. The fire was extinguished using a water jet and was confined to the living room contents.

Further details of the incident are available from the Singapore Civil Defence Force's Facebook post and an interview with a neighbour.
